The ever growing demand for clean energy potentially can be met by solar-to-electrical energy conversion. This book on “Recent Advances in Photovoltaics” presents a detailed overview of recent research and developments in the field of photovoltaics and solar cells. It starts with the basic theory and gradual progress in the field of photovoltaics and various generations of solar cells. The search for new materials and/or new structures such as multi-junctions, nanostructures, photoelectrochemical cells, organic solar cells etc. for improved performance is discussed. The experimental investigations on certain materials and modelling for better results are also described in the book.

Dr. Meera Ramrakhiani has been the Professor and Head, Department of Physics and Electronics and also Dean, Faculty of Science at Rani Durgavati University Jabalpur, India. She has done her graduation, M.Sc. and Ph.D from the University of Jabalpur (now Rani Durgavati University) and has 40 years of teaching and research experience at under graduate and post graduate levels. More than 25 students have completed their Ph.D. degree under her supervision and many more are working in the field of nanomaterials, luminescence and photovoltaic solar cells. She has participated in about 70 seminars/symposia etc. and presented her work at national/ international level and also organized a number of conferences/workshops etc. She has visited Italy, Hungary, Singapore, USA and China for the research work. Dr. Meera Ramrakhiani has authored or coauthored about 400 research papers/book chapters/articles and successfully carried out two research project. She has been reviewer to many national/international journals and has received many awards such as Vijaya Shree Award by India International Friendship Society in 1997, The 20th Century Award of Achievement by International biographical Center, Cambridge, England in 1998, Women of the Year 2005 Jeweler Issued by american Biographical Institute, Inc. etc. She is life member of many professional bodies and Fellow of Luminescence Society of India.
