Murder and the Money Pit

Lily Mason, a werecougar shifter, is now living in the human town of Moonrise, Missouri. The problem is, she is living in a studio apartment over the garage owned by Parker Knowles, her boss, and is not comfortable with that arrangement. Her attraction to him makes things awkward for her in trying to avoid a relationship. Her dog, Smooshie, is a sweetheart pit bull who saved Lily’s life by pushing her out of the way of a car, and a new partnership was born. Now Lily is acquiring a rent-to-own house to give her some distance from Parker and lots of land to shift and run in with some privacy – even if the house is known to have ghosts! When she finally began demolishing the walls in the house, Smooshie ran past her with something in her mouth. The prize turned out to be a human foot, and the hole Smooshie dug in the living room wall revealed a leg and presumably the rest of the body. She dreaded having to call the Sheriff’s Department about another murder. It looks like Lily and her canine partner will have to team up to solve another mystery. It is such a pleasure to find a well written story that flows smoothly. The story line quickly captures the reader’s interest and provides a well-paced murder mystery to be solved. Share this next adventure with Lily and Smooshie as they investigate this murder close to home! Before long, you’ll be hooked on this series and eagerly waiting for the next book!

Something is afoot (pun intended) in Moonrise. Yep, Lilly is still fighting her attraction to Parker and still finding mysteries and bodies or body. Smooshie is just as sweet and mischievous as I remember. However, there are some newbies, to Lilly anyway, who add more spice to her life. I love series that are stand alone books but the characters move on in the next one.  There is evidence of murder, close to home, and she hates to call the sherif—they aren't exactly buds. There is trouble and murder and so much. As usual, she is in the middle of it all. There is plenty to keep her busy, besides remodeling her new home. And plenty to keep you wondering. Can you figure out the culprit or is it culprits? I have to say, I love Parker, I want them to be together. In this world, shifters and humans are not fated and don't marry. They can't have children and the human ages more quickly than the shifter, a cougar in Lilly's case. This makes me sad, but then Smooshie does something Smooshieish and I am happy again.  I keep hoping things will change and who knows. This was a book I promised myself I'd wait a day or so to read because I was really busy. Just couldn't do it. I love this sister series as much as the Witchin' Impossible series. Don't miss either. Another fun, interesting mystery from one of my favorite authors. Thank you, Ms. George. Keep 'em coming.

Once you start this book, you just can't put it down! Renee George is a master at weaving likeable and mysterious characters in all of her series and Murder and the Money Pit is no exception. Lily with her rescue pit, Smooshie are settling down in the town of Moonrise having just bought a house in the outskirts of town. A real fixer-upper. Being a shifter and trying to live a more "human" life can be a problem for Lily at times as does her real attraction to her boss, Parker. When while doing renovations on her home, Smooshie finds a body in the walls. Oh no, not again! She just wants a quiet life and now there is a body in the wall. And then there is the murder of her landlord. What next? Is Lily next? With lots of twists and turns some laughable moments and the weaving of a real mystery will Lily come out of this alive? Will her need to solve the murders going to get her in trouble? Without giving away any spoilers, I can say that once you begin this book, you will NOT be able to put this down! I had to keep turning pages to see if my instincts were right. Surprise after surprise with a long list of possible suspects, I love this book and will continue to follow this series. Although this book can be read as a stand-alone, You will love this series! I received and ARC from the author but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
