About this eBook

Rhys doesn’t expect a trip to Cottage Grove, Oregon, to start with a house shot up with bullets. If it had stopped there, it would have been manageable—a drive-by shooting that the cops chase down. But nothing is easy in Rhys’s world. And this case goes to hell right from the beginning …

Taylor, an army vet herself, struggles to regain a normal life, after she was injured by friendly fire in Iraq. Taking on a War Dog appeals to Taylor, a connection that she relates to, but she first must pass an interview, before she can keep Tallahassee. An interview with someone with a prosthetic just like Taylor’s. Only he is far more capable than she is.

Still that lack of self-confidence is the least of Taylor’s worries, as things go from bad to worse, and she realizes these attacks were very personal—and very close to home …rries as things go from bad to worse, and she realizes these attacks were very personal… and very close to home…

A 3.5 stars read. This K9 Files series is one of my fav series from Dale Mayer, it revolves around War Dogs, added alpha hero and romance, a fast-paced easy-to-read full of action read, so what's not to like right? This one exactly what I was expected, but a bit heavier with PTSD and trauma, and therefore bring a lot of emotions. I love the action with the war dog Tallahassee, I always admire when those amazing war dogs in action.

I'm sorry but this is the last book by Dale Mayer that I will purchase and I have many. As time has gone on I find increasingly that the storey lines are getting weaker and very much the same as each other. There is little substance, action and are predictable. The character's are not strong and basically the books consist of way to much repeated conversations between character's and little storey substance. In short the books have become so boring they aren't worth reading.

This was a very enjoyable read. The story quickly captured a kept my interest. I really liked Rhys and Taylor. This book offers a smartly crafted combination of drama, action, emotion, mystery, intensity and romance that had me on feeling on the edge and needing to squeeze in just a few more pages every chance I got. I am independently posting an impartial review.
