Riad Sattouf è nato a Parigi nel 1978 ma ha trascorso la sua infanzia tra Algeria, Libia e Siria, dove ha ricevuto un’educazione musulmana. Tra i suoi libri Le Povere Avventure di Jérémie (premio Goscinny per la miglior sceneggiatura), La vie secrète de jeunes, Manuel d’un puceau, Ma circoncision e Pascal Brutal, vincitore del prestigioso Fauve d’Or al Festival di Angoulême 2010. Ha scritto e diretto i film Les beaux gosses (Premio César per la Miglior Opera Prima) e Jackie aux royaume des filles, interpretato da Charlotte Gainsbourg. Ha collaborato con “Charlie Hebdo” per nove anni, fino ad ottobre 2014, con la striscia “La vita segreta dei giovani”. L’arabo del futuro è vincitore del “Fauve d’Or” per il Miglior Album al Festival di Angoulême 2015.
