Love the series, but I am surprised at the level of violence... Is it really necessary to have all that torture in these stories? Evans is such a creative writer...surely he can find a way of keeping the heightened suspense without that!

I wish the first book started out this strongly. I think it would be a more popular series. This one keeps you guessing and excited, and drops an epic cliffhanger that makes you angry that you have to wait a year for the next one. Well done. I will say however that the climax rescue was not nearly as exciting as I thought it would be (I don't want to give much away). Still, a great read even for an adult.
