About this ebook

The international multi-million bestselling author of The Girl in the Ice is back with his first stand-alone thriller, a heart-racing, hold-your-breath read that will keep you hooked until the very last page.

‘Do you believe Will took his own life?’

The question echoed off the white tiles in the hospital’s cold, cavernous morgue, and I studied my husband in peaceful repose. I leaned down and put my forehead against his. Silent tears ran down my cheeks. They felt hot, and he felt so cold. It was five days since his death, and my grief felt heavy, like a vast, dark mass pushing down on me.

When Maggie’s husband, Will, is shot dead in their London home, she thinks he is the victim of a burglary until the police tell her the shocking news that Will was the one who pulled the trigger.

Maggie is consumed with grief and questions. Will wasn’t suicidal. He had so much to live for.

After the funeral, Maggie travels to their holiday home on a small Croatian island to escape London. She finds a disturbing letter written by Will, containing clues to a dark secret.

As Maggie puts the pieces together, she discovers Will’s death is connected to someone from his past… Someone who will go to extreme lengths to keep Maggie silent.

Three can keep a secret... If two of them are dead.

What a harrowing new suspense thriller by a favorite author of mine! I was ecstatic to have a chance to read it. The unexpected death of her husband throws Maggie into unfamiliar territory. She’s a middle aged intelligent surgeon, ill-prepared to handle menial everyday tasks. They both had careers but Will took care of their vacation house he’d built on a small Croatian island, a short trip from London. She’s numbed by grief, filled with unanswered questions about his death. She’s going there to close it up for the winter. Right from her arrival little things go wrong, items out of place, unexplained equipment malfunctions, strange figures in the night. Just as anyone who’s lost a loved one in such an unexplainable way, she has doubts about the circumstances and questions the police version. As she digs into clues on the island her true allies and enemies will surface. There are chills and thrills, goosebumps and prickles, I was holding my breath. Will she uncover the truth about Will’

The phrase unputdownable is much used in book reviews, but I think it was created for this book. Every one its short sharp, powerful chapters pulls you in and leaves you wanting more. I love the authors Erika Foster and Kate Marshall Books, this one exceeds all he has done before. I believe this is his first standalone thriller, I sincerely hope its not his last.. Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for an Advanced Readers Copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was a mystery suspense that had things moving pretty fast and nothing was making sense. Did her husband really commit suicide? What the heck was going on?? And when she got to Croatia things really went off the rails. In all honesty I love this authors writing style but this one wasn’t as believable to me. The timing and injuries were too much. Will I read another book by this author? Absolutely!
