Private Detective Cormoran Strike is visiting his family in Cornwall when he is approached by a woman asking for help finding her mother, Margot Bamborough - who went missing in mysterious circumstances in 1974.

Strike has never tackled a cold case before, let alone one forty years old. But despite the slim chance of success, he is intrigued and takes it on; adding to the long list of cases that he and his partner in the agency, Robin Ellacott, are currently working on. Plus the pair are still battling their feelings for one another, while Robin is also juggling a messy divorce and unwanted male attention.

As Strike and Robin investigate Margot's disappearance, they come up against a fiendishly complex case with leads that include tarot cards, a psychopathic serial killer and witnesses who cannot all be trusted. And they learn that even cases decades old can prove to be deadly . . .

A breathtaking, labyrinthine epic, Troubled Blood is the fifth Strike and Robin novel and the most gripping and satisfying yet.

One of the best books I've ever read. I started with this one in the series without realising it was actually the 5th book. So much detail in the characters and the actual case and mystery thrown in I could've easily read the book if it was another thousand pages long.

Hands down the best Strike novel yet. Rowling displays again why she rules. The nuances of human emotions, conflicts and our myriad responses to trauma, challenges and pressure, all depicted masterfully. In unraveling a 40-year-old mystery, the book transports the reader back to the 70s world. It highlights the importance of education and awareness among women. Addresses issues such as drug abuse, domestic violence, overburdened social welfare system which lets countless innocents fall through the cracks. The emotional evolution of Robin and Strike, in their own spheres has been my favorite part in Galbraith novels. Both of them, in their own way, learn to deal with their past traumas, present stress and future approach. Robin's dealing with the separation from Matthew, and her own vulnerabilities are mirrored in Strike's struggle to deal with the choking hold of Charlotte on his heart, and his emotions as he sees his aunt succumb to cancer. Masterpiece of Storytelling.

An intriguing use of concepts for clues...Oh yes! "far too many exciting angles to the story" from web of plots and characters to team dynamics and turning up the heat with chemistry between Strike and Robin 💞 so glad this was a big book for a 2 year wait 🌟
