The division of ‘rural’ and ‘urban’ is one of the oldest ideas in Geography and is deeply engrained in our culture. Michael Woods is Professor of Human Geography in the Institute of Geography and Earth Sciences, Aberystwyth University. He specialises in rural geography, political geography and contemporary rural politics and governance.
