Khalid bin Walid lahir di Makkah, 17 tahun sebalum
masa pembangunan umat islam pada tahun 584 M.
Ia merupakan sepupu dari Khalifah Umar bin Khattab.
Ayahnya bernama Walid bin Al Mughirah. Sejak kecil Khalid
suka mempelajari keahlian berkuda, memainkan pedang,
dan memanah. Sejak kecil juga, Khalid senang dengan
berkelahi dan bela diri. Dengan kecerdasannya ia selalu
mengambil keputusan dengan penuh perhitungan. Dan
ia jarang sekali melakukan kesalahan dengan keputusan
yang telah ia ambil.
