It’s been a while since we last visited, but things are just as hot & steamy as ever in Samanthe Beck’s little town of Bluelick, KY. And the weather is pretty warm too. Wooooah... Roxy and West make one deliciously hot couple. Like the townspeople, I immediately felt protective of Roxanne “Roxy” Goodhart. Despite her unconventional, somewhat nomadic upbringing and the misfortunes she’s suffered, she’s remained positive and sweet. Goodhart is the perfect name, because Roxy has a genuinely good heart. Almost too good. When the talented singer/songwriter doesn’t feel she can, I was ready to fight the wrongs being done to her and anxious to see her realize the dreams. Protectiveness isn’t the strongest emotion that West Donovan felt towards Roxy. The former Seal and transplanted big city cop is all about law and order. Roxy Goodhart disturbs his order somethin’ fierce and tempts his iron control like no other woman ever has. Neither stand a chance against her determination to enjoy the sexy deputy during her brief stay in Bluelick before she moves on. Wet and Reckless is a typical Samanthe Beck book in that the story line is unique and absorbing, the heat level is scorching, and the secondary characters are scene stealers who burrow into your heart just as much as the main characters. I was hooked and invested from the couple’s meet cute in the opening scene. One of my favorite things about going back to Bluelick is catching up with my favorite characters from the previous books. While my absolute favorite isn’t featured, I did get lots of time with her man and several of the other fun characters. Honorable mention goes to two of the secondary cast who, likely intended to be comic relief, were just adorable in their country ineptness. Dare I hope another installment to this series is on the horizon? Unless I’m way off base – and please lie to me if I am – a future heroine, hero, and storyline were setup. All sound like a perfectly amazing badazz couple in an action-packed story that I’m already anticipating. I thoroughly enjoyed this newest addition to the Private Pleasures series. Wet and Reckless can absolutely be read as a standalone without losing any of its charm. Although I highly recommend reading the previous books because the entire series is highly entertaining.

Roxy and West’s love story in Wet and Reckless by Samanthe Beck, book four in her Private Pleasures series, was an emotional, enjoyable and heartwarming tale. West Donovan, a former Navy Seal and now a small town cop, decides to bend the rules a bit when rescuing a sexy hitchhiker during a rainstorm. Singer-songwriter Roxy Goodhart lands in Bluelick, Kentucky and into the warm and tempting hands of West. Roxy is hoping to hide from her lying ex-manager, something about a stolen guitar that was originally hers, she’s in need of a way to make money, and a place to stay. Soon she taken under the wing of a couple of residents and life is suddenly looking up for Roxy. West is none too happy to discover Roxy living in the apartment beneath him, working at the diner, and singing at the local bar. Roxy and West are total opposites, especially in what they each want in life. A magnetic attraction and off-the charts chemistry that could light the night sky, keeps drawing these two together; a definite sizzle that neither can find the energy to ignore. Ms. Beck wrote an emotional, romantic and fun romance that should not be missed. This story abounds with sizzle, chemistry, magnetic attraction, wonderful dialogue, and charming characters giving Roxy and West a chance at a forever love. I highly recommend Wet and Reckless to other readers. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

3.75 stars--WET AND RECKLESS is the fourth instalment in Samanthe Beck’s contemporary, adult PRIVATE PLEASURES erotic, romance series focusing on the men and women of Bluelick, Kentucky. This is former US Navy SEAL and NYPD police officer West Donovan, and singer/song writer/waitress Roxy Goodhart’s story line. WET AND RECKLESS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Told from dual third person perspectives (West and Roxy) WET AND RECKLESS focuses on the arrival of twenty-two year old Roxy Goodhart to the small town of Bluelick, Kentucky, the town where her mother and grandmother once lived. Spying a young woman hitchhiking on the side of the road, police officer West Donovan offers our heroine a ride, a ride she struggles to accept in the face of West’s profession, as our heroine is on the run, with no where to go. Hoping to reconnect with the grandmother she has never met, Roxy will soon discover that her grandmother has passed, and our heroine is out on her own but the people of Bluelick, Kentucky welcome Roxy as one of their own especially police officer West Donovan who is hoping Roxy is only in town for a short time. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Roxy and West, and the potential fall-out as Roxy’s past demands payment and more. The relationship between Roxy and West begins acrimoniously when West picks up a hitchhiking stranger on the side of the road. Roxy battles between head and heart knowing that her past is about to catch up, and her legal troubles may destroy the building love between our leading couple. West Donovan doesn’t do relationships, and struggles with his attraction to our story line heroine but the town has accepted Roxy as one of their own, and West refuses to lose the woman that calls to his heart. The $ex sense are erotic, passionate and intense. There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including West’s friend and former Navy SEAL Shaun Buchanan and Mayor Ginny Boca: Dr. Ellie Swan and Tyler Longfoot; Melody Merritt and Josh Bradley, LouAnn Doubletree; Randy and Uncle Billy. WET AND RECKLESS is a story of friendships and relationships, revenge and secrets; happiness and love. The last instalment in the series was close to seven years ago, so I had to look back to refresh my memory. The premise is captivating; the romance is seductive; the characters are energetic and sassy. The ‘conflict’ resolution is quick and easy; the angst level was limited to our heroine’s unease of what was to come.
