डाॅ. कैलाश चन्द 'शंकी' का ऐसा उपन्यास है जिसमें उन्होंने एक ऐसे इन्सान की ज़िन्दगी का वर्णन किया है जिसकी ज़िन्दगी का एक सन्दर्भ उसके सम्पूर्ण जीवन को एक कथा बना गई अर्थात सन्दर्भ वह परिस्थिति होती है जिसमें कोई घटना घटी हो और वह घटना मानव की ज़िन्दगी के सभी वर्णाें को बदरंग बनाके रख देती है अथवा उसे सतरंगी आभा से आलोकित कर देती है। ऐसी घटना का सन्दर्भ है उपन्यास के नायक अंकुर का जीवन। उसके मुॅंह से निकले हुए वाक्यों में भटकते हुए उसके षब्द उसके जीवन के सन्दर्भ के अर्थ को इस प्रकार निर्धारित करते नजर आते हैं।
