About this ebook

Spinster Amelia accepts a position as a companion to her social-climbing aunt who is planning her next wedding before she is even out of mourning for her second husband. And the man her aunt is stalking is none other than the wealthy widower, the Duke of Caversham.

At a house party attended by both the duke and her aunt, Amelia is horrified at her aunt’s behavior and decides to hide away in their host’s library and gardens for the duration of their visit. On an evening walk through the maze she meets an older gentleman who intrigues and arouses her. She flees without learning his name, only to stumble across that same handsome gentleman in the library days later, where to Amelia's astonishment, he kisses her. And she kisses him back!

Amelia and the duke are caught in their passionate embrace by her aunt. Embarrassed at her own wanton behavior, Amelia flees the room believing he’s used her to avoid her aunt. After confronting her aunt, the duke does what he believes is the honorable thing and makes plans to marry Amelia.

Only he never asks her.

He is not seeking a wife. He was looking for a quiet "old age" but when Amelia appears as her aunt's companion, he is aware of her youth and honesty. The aunt, looking for him as her 3rd husband, is horrified that Cav should become enamoured of Amelia. This book does not have mystery, crime, or deceitful people (other than the aunt). The story flows with easy development from beginning to end, which is not a cliffhanger. The next book is now on my "to be read".

The story is so compelling , even though fiction, if u believe in love and how fate works in our lives, we too can be open and receptive to what comes our way. GREAT STORY.

Interesting story. Plenty of incidents both good and bad. Wicked mean family member, family without knowledge, and missing family. Finding love and acting on it regardless of the "ton"

About the author

Sandy Raven has a husband who spoils her rotten, and kids that are just a hair's breadth away from perfect. She's addicted to House Hunter's International and has never missed an episode, though she acknowledges that she could never live in most of those countries because the houses are just too small. She is also addicted to Starbucks' Chai Latte, and never passes up an opportunity to have one.

Sandy grew up on the Texas Gulf Coast with sand between her toes and perpetually frizzy hair. Which is why she now lives in the middle-of-nowhere Virginia, in a place with minimal to moderate humidity (for perfect, non-frizzy curls,) rolling hills and farmed forests. The only downside to that is the temperamental satellite internet and the closest Starbucks being a thirty minute drive away.

Home is a renovated old farm house she shares with her hero husband, in the foothills of Blue Ridge Mountains, where she's owned by more cats, dogs and horses than she cares to admit to. She's a long-time member of RWA, and is a member of VRW and the Beau Monde. Second to writing is her love for her horses. She practices natural horsemanship, and loves to ride her barefoot Tennessee Walkers on the trails and in the woods around her home.
