Held at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), the conference during August 11-15, 1997, focused on progress in central topics in algebra, combinatorics, algebraic geometry, and number theory. A sampling of the 14 titles includes: Okubo algebra and twisted polynomials, counting jump optimal linear extensions of some posets, the irreducible representations of categories, graded simple Jordan algebras and superalgebras, Drinfeld-Anderson motives and multicomponent KP hierarchy, Weil classes and Rosati involutions on complex abelian varieties, and some open problems related to the restricted Burnside problem.
