Jean-Paul Sartre was one of the twentieth century's most prominent atheists. But his philosophy was informed by theological writers and themes in ways that have not previously been acknowledged. Kate Kirkpatrick is Lecturer in Philosophy at the University of Hertfordshire and Lecturer in Theology at St Peter's College, University of Oxford, UK. She is the Treasurer of the UK Sartre Society and has published several articles on Sartre and Beauvoir.
