There was this question in civics in primary school- at what sound level will good citizens play music in their neighbourhood? The options were loud or reserved for his room. I used to say loud because who wouldn’t enjoy the music? No doubt, it was the wrong answer. I realised my teachers hate music. I recalled this question on reading this book ‘Putting India First- India Positive Citizen Perspectives’, which inquires how are we as citizens, helping our nation move ahead? We talk about the dirt on the road, but when do we throw our dirt in a dustbin? The book begins with what makes a nation great? The author further explains the meaning of India Positive Citizen, and then proceeds with Putting India First. The book discusses various personalities who have served India and helped India be recognised at a global level. This book involves actual deliberations with those personalities and detailed accounts of their lives and their purpose. These unsung idols involve CEOs, Soldiers, and Entrepreneurs etc., who are mentioned here to inspire you to serve your nation. The book discusses those extreme situations which couldn’t stop them from fulfilling their purpose, and with their accomplishments, they served our nation. This nonfiction is written in both formal and informal dialects. The author inspires the readers to take a step towards building a better nation. She has discussed detailed accounts of the renowned citizens, which presents this book as a textbook. However, that exertion is proof of authentic information. Though I encountered a few typing mistakes, the writing style is easy to comprehend. As she maintains detailed accounts of many personalities, this book cannot be read in one sitting. However, her concept keeps you engrossed till the end.
