About the author

Historian Ewan Butler is the author of Scandinavia: A History; Marshal Without Glory, a biography of Hermann Göring; The Cecils; Amateur Agent, a memoir of war experiences; and numerous other histories, novels, and articles. During World War II, Butler worked clandestinely with Danish and Norwegian resistance movements and was the first British officer to enter Copenhagen before the German capitulation.
