Science plays an ever-increasing part in the development of legislation and the adjudication of cases. Its limitations and its value are explored in these essays which discuss issues of methodology and of evidence. Michael Freeman, FBA is Professor of English Law at University College London where he teaches jurisprudence, Medicine, Ethics and the Law: and Conflicts of Laws. He is editor of Current Legal Problems, the International Journal of Children's Rights and general editor of the International Library of Medicine Ethics and Law. He is the Vice president of the International Society of Family Law.
