關於本電子書

The graveyard was a skeletal hand clawed into the earth, its bony fingers reaching out to snare the unwary. Its tombstones, weathered and cracked, stood like silent sentinels, their inscriptions blurred by time and neglect. This was no ordinary graveyard. It was a witch's coven, a burial ground for those condemned by fire and fear.

Jake, Emily, Chris, and Brenda stood at its rusted gates, each carrying their own secret burdens that had led them to this moment of reckless bravado.

Jake, the self-proclaimed leader, masked his insecurities behind a facade of confidence. At 19, he was the oldest of the group, a college dropout haunted by the disappearance of his younger sister five years ago. She had vanished without a trace, leaving behind only whispers of occult involvement. Jake's quest for answers had become an obsession, driving him to explore the darkest corners of their small town.

Emily, her voice trembling despite her efforts to sound brave, was more sensitive to the supernatural than she let on. Since childhood, she had been plagued by vivid nightmares of burning at the stake, the screams of the accused ringing in her ears. These dreams had intensified in recent weeks, drawing her to this place like a moth to a flame.

Chris, the skeptic of the group, relied on logic and reason to keep his fears at bay. His father, a respected historian, had recently passed away while researching the town's witch trials. Chris had found his father's body slumped over his desk, his face frozen in a mask of terror. The coroner had ruled it a heart attack, but Chris couldn't shake the feeling that something more sinister was at play.

Brenda, the youngest at 17, had always felt like an outsider. Adopted as a baby, she had never quite fit in with her loving but conventional family. Strange occurrences seemed to follow her – objects moving on their own, whispers in empty rooms. She had come to the graveyard hoping to finally understand the source of her otherness.

As they stepped through the iron gates, the world around them seemed to shift. The fog, already thick, became a living entity, coiling around their ankles like spectral serpents.

The air grew heavy, pressing down on them with an almost physical weight. The faint scent of decay mingled with something else – a cloying sweetness that reminded Brenda of the incense her grandmother used to burn.

The tombstones loomed like ghostly figures in the gloom, their shapes distorted by the mist. Some bore symbols that made Chris's eyes water when he tried to focus on them – pentagrams, ouroboros, and other, stranger sigils that seemed to writhe and twist when viewed from the corner of one's eye.

Gnarled trees lined the winding paths, their branches reaching out like grasping fingers. In the distance, barely visible through the fog, stood a dilapidated mausoleum. Its once-grand facade was now a crumbling ruin, the stone stained with what looked disturbingly like dried blood.

"I don't like this," Emily whispered, her voice barely audible over the sudden, inexplicable pounding of her heart.

Jake scoffed, but his bravado sounded hollow even to his own ears. "Relax, Em. It's just a graveyard. And besides, this is supposed to be the best night to see a ghost."

As they ventured deeper into the graveyard, the fog thickened, swallowing the world in a shroud of white. The tombstones pressed in closer, creating a claustrophobic maze that seemed to shift and change with each step. A chill, more than the night air, crept down their spines.

"Do you smell that?" Brenda asked, her voice barely a whisper.

A stench, acrid and foul, hung heavy in the air. It was the smell of burning flesh, a scent that seemed to seep from the very ground beneath their feet. But underneath it was something else – a sweetness that made their heads spin and their stomachs churn.

"It's probably just old bones," Jake said, trying to sound unconcerned. But as they ventured deeper, the smell intensified. And with it came the sound of distant screams, muffled and eerie, carried on the wind.

"Did you hear that?" Emily's voice was barely audible.

The others nodded, their faces pale with fear. They pressed on, their courage dwindling with every step. The fog was now so thick they could barely see their hands in front of their faces.
