The earth is doomed.

They must contend with saboteurs, misinformation from ground control, an alien from a rogue planet, and a warlike race of aliens that are awaiting their arrival.

The first book was quite an interesting read, with a nice ending. The following books sometimes lacked the inspiration of book one, characters were not developed, and the narrative style was quite simple at times. Book eight brought the story back to life - however, I'd loved to see more detailed storytelling for many parts, notably towards the end, which came too fast, almost chopped off.
