The delicious team of K9 handlers, from all walks of law enforcement, are back. Cassidy barely survived a car wreck and lost her reprehensible fiancee in the process. She's still not back to 100% and she's learning to live her new "normal" way. But when a huge white dog appears at her door and lets her know that someone needs help, she steps out of her comfort zone. She knows that her neighbour rents out his home when he's overseas but she has no idea who is staying there now. Though she does get worried when he's bleeding out but doesn't want a hospital! She's not about to let him die on her so she manages to get him into the car anyway - ably helped by her new furry friend! Markus has his reasons for hiding out -someone killed his colleague and nearly succeeded in killing him only a few weeks ago. He's trying to lay low but paparazzi at the hospital have put paid to that. Cassidy soon finds herself drafted as nursemaid to the injured K9 officer. Cassidy and Markus soon find their rhythm, Markus also takes over Cassidy's rehab, her previous PT was an absolute waste of space. Before long danger has found them once more! I've loved all the Federal K-9 series but you can easily read them as stand-alones. As usual, the K9's steal the show! Ghost is just such a wonderful character and lives up to his "giant marshmallow" status LOL.

Serve ‘N’ Protect by Tee O’Fallon A Federal K-9 Novel #5 What a delight to find a wonderful new author that made me smile, care, and want to read more of her work. I even chuckled a bit here and there even though this was definitely a romantic suspense genre novel. What I liked: * Cassidy Morgan: feisty, strong, survivor or major physical and emotional trauma, math wizard, accountant, giving, caring, loquacious, sister, daughter, and al- around good person. She was perfect for Markus * Markus York: K-9 Secret Service Agent, survivor of brutal attack, in hiding, quiet, back story impacts his present, team player, more than he realizes and perfect for Cassidy. * Ghost: K-9 partner of Markus, made me smile, smarter at times than his partner, stole the story from time to time, loved his part in this book. * The Morgans: big fun-loving, talkative, intrusive family that explained why Cassidy was as she was. * The writing: I loved the way it made me feel, care and want to read more * That this was a standalone story * The men mentioned in the book that must have been part of previous stories in the series…would love to know more about them all. * That there were mysteries to solve and bad guys to catch * In a way…being able to empathize with one of the bad guys…could definitely see why he did what he did though it was wrong. * How the bad guys were caught * That the H/h were both imperfect but perfect in their own right ~ Really liked this couple! * All of it really except… What I didn’t like: * The bad guys…especially one of them…what a creep! * Knowing that there are people out there willing to do evil things for money * Hugh – the ex-fiancé of Cassidy – what a creep and spineless guy! Did I enjoy this book? Yes Would I read more in this series? Definitely! Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing-Amara ~ This is my honest review. 5 Stars

Once again this talented author delivers a story that engages the reader from the first page to the last. Making it another winner in this already wonderful series of complex, strong, imperfect men and the women that win their hearts. Markus York is one of these men. A US Secret Service K-9 officer, he was stabbed and left for dead. Sadly, one of his co-workers was not so fortunate to survive. Markus is nowadays recovering from the stab wounds in his friend’s home . He and his K-9, Ghost, have been ordered to stay out of sight, since the killer/attacker has yet to be found. Little did Markus know, that a fall from a ladder would bring Cassidy Morgan to his rescue. A woman whose life changed after a horrendous car accident that almost severed her legs. As a friendship of sorts develops, and someone is still trying to kill him, or are they, feelings develop. But Markus is sure he could never be able to love anyone after the childhood he and his sister barely survived. The plot was filled with action, bad guys, good hunky ones, whodunit and of course , romance. The k-9 , Ghost, was great and watching dog and handler together, was touching. I hope that Kade, one of the secondary characters, gets a chance to have his own story. I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley and Entangled Publishing . The opinions expressed are solely my own.
