Seven Pillars of Wisdom is an unusual and rich work. It is also a memoir of the soldier known as “Lawrence of Arabia”, while serving as a liaison officer with rebel forces during the Arab Revolt against the Ottoman Turks of 1916 to 1918.
It encompasses an account of the Arab Revolt alongside general Middle Eastern and military history, politics, adventure and drama.
The book was adapted into the film Lawrence of Arabia (1962).
