We don't know much about Shakespeare, so any Shakespeare biography isn't going to be all that revolutionary, unless the author has made a huge discovery and somehow kept it under wraps until his or her book is published. I only saw a little of Bryson's trademark wit and was disappointed not to read more of it. On the whole, I learned things about Shakespeare that I didn't know and am glad to have read this book.

About the author
Bill Bryson's internationally bestselling books include ‘A Short History of Nearly Everything’ (shortlisted for the Samuel Johnson Prize), ‘A Walk in the Woods’, ‘Neither Here Nor There’, ‘Made in America’, ‘Notes from a Small Island’, ‘The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid’ and, most recently, ‘At Home’.
