A brilliant book, unusual heroine, dealing with a half brother who controls her, but now she finds allies, who are somehow related to her and who come from a country where there are mages. Now she can get answers about her parents deaths, but someone enchants her so she can't remember properly..

The heroes are flawed, the villains are formidable. Marianne is the heroine that I needed - under constant attack, yet never yielding. Finding her own rescue, yet helped by others.
About the author
Sheri S. Tepper is the author of several resoundingly acclaimed novels, including THE MARGARETS and GIBBON'S DECLINE AND FALL both shortlisted for the ARTHUR C.
