About this ebook

The Sweet Magnolias is now a Netflix Original Series!

From #1 New York Times Bestselling Author Sherryl Woods

There’s no place like home, especially if it’s Serenity, South Carolina. For Annie Sullivan, though, the homecoming is bittersweet. She’d always envisioned a life there with her childhood best friend, Tyler Townsend. But Ty’s betrayal has cost her the family and the future they’d once planned.

For Ty, losing Annie was heartbreaking. Still, he can’t imagine life without the three-year-old son whose mother left him for Ty to raise. Ty wants it all—Annie, his child and the future he’d dreamed about—and he’s back home in Serenity to fight for it. But getting Annie to forgive and forget may be the hardest challenge he’s ever faced. With the stakes so high, this is one game he can’t afford to lose.

I hated this book. Sadly, I knew I was going to hate it before I paid $8 for it, but the TV series drew me in. I am not a fan of cheater books, but I thought there would be some redemption. I was hoping Annie and Ty would draw me in. It didn't. Ty was selfish and arrogant. Annie was weak and wishy washy. It made the story hard to read and I wanted to root for anyone but these two characters. I was frustrated that the town kept trying to put them together. I felt Annie should have gone through therapy for what she went through with both her dad and Ty and her eating disorder. She read insecure and untrusting, rightfully so. Ty just wanted her to get past his affairs because it was in the past and the way he talked about sowing his wild oats and cheating as being expected because of his status as a ballplayer was off putting. I felt he didn't understand her and I couldn't fathom how he could have been one of her best friends. This was a forced??? love for me.

Why? That's the question I kept asking myself when reading this story. Why did Tyler keep making dumb mistakes? Why did people keep sympathizing with Dee-Dee when she kept trying to keep Tyler from HIS child? Why is it that some thought Dee-Dee had the right to claim full custody over Trevor when she herself kept making selfish decisions? Why did Maddie keep guilt tripping Annie for not wanting to be with Tyler? Why doesnt Tyler understand that no means no? Why do all the males in this book commit adultery, think it ok and that they should be forgiven? Why does everyone expect Annie to forgive Tyler, even though he cheated? Why? Why? Why?
