As a nurse, we see people at their most vulnerable times of their lives. Nurses provide care through experience, teaching and love. Nursing was a calling for me after a terrible accident in the oilfield where I was the Health, Safety, and Environmental Manager. We lost two wonderful men and two of my men lost legs. These men were not only coworkers, but they were also personal friends. This experience was devastating to my whole family. God spoke to me leading me to nursing. By listening to the Lord, I received my bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2006.
In September of 2023, my father was dying slowly. My handicapped mother could not take care of him. Following God again, I quit my job to go home to take care of my father and mother through this difficult time. I have always lived by the scripture, "God will always provide." My husband was a huge support during the hard times with my father. Not sure how we would have taken such good care of my father without his help getting the living room ready for a hospital bed and hospice.
