Thalassaemias (a deficiency of globin chains) must be differentiated from other haemolytic diseases (thalassaemia major and intermedia) and iron deficiency (thalassaemia minor). Unnecessary investigations and iron therapy should be avoided in patients with thalassaemia. Genetic counselling should be offered to thalassaemia gene carriers of reproductive age.

This book is a compilation of the most well known thalassaemia symtoms and conditions. The reporting of the condition has very little depth and the inter-related connections between the symtoms and categories of the condition lack context and detail. Overall, this ebook wasted my time.
