"Are you sure about this, Jake?" Sophie asked, her voice wavering slightly as she eyed the desolate carnival.
Jake flashed a cocky grin. "Come on, where's your sense of adventure? We're just here to play a game, remember?"
The group exchanged nervous glances as they followed Jake deeper into the heart of the abandoned fairgrounds. Their footsteps echoed eerily against the dilapidated wooden planks, the creaks, and groans of the decaying structures adding to the ominous atmosphere.
As they approached the center of the carnival, a lone carousel stood, its once cheerful melody now reduced to a haunting silence. Jake stopped, facing his friends with a mischievous glint in his eye.
"Alright, listen up, everyone. We're gonna play Simon Says. But... with a twist."
"A twist?" Emily's voice quivered. "What kind of twist?"
Jake's grin widened. "We'll play in the dark. No flashlights, no cheating. The last one standing wins."
