Acerca de este libro electrónico

Small-Scale Mechanical Testing focuses on testing techniques for metals, nanomaterials, biomaterials, thin films and coatings, and polymers, plastics, and composites. The initial section introduces various techniques and concepts related to small-scale mechanical testing (SSMT), including the standardization of SSMT techniques, and the challenges associated. Commonly encountered challenges and solutions to overcoming them are outlined as well, with a particular emphasis on the relationship between microstructures and mechanical characteristics. Both numerical and lab-based experiments are covered as are correlation methodologies for data transferability, correlation between different techniques while connecting to bulk scale evaluations, the use of numerical simulation/analysis for data inversion, and the development of a common code of practice. The suitability and various applications of SSMT techniques, along with their benefits and drawbacks, are also thoroughly reviewed. - Provides a wide range of testing techniques enabling a better understanding of the mechanical behavior of materials and how they perform at different sizes and under different loading conditions - Offers insight into material properties and performance at the micro- and nano-scale, enabling the design of more reliable and durable vehicle components, electronic components, and chip packaging - Covers techniques for evaluating and optimizing the mechanical properties of polymers and composites used in medical devices, implants, and biotechnological applications, thereby enhancing their performance and safety
