About this eBook

Like What Dreams May Come, which inspired the upcoming movie starring Robin Williams, Somewhere in Time is the powerful story of a love that transcends time and space, written by one of the Grand Masters of modern fantasy.

Matheson's classic novel tells the moving, romantic story of a modern man whose love for a woman he has never met draws him back in time to a luxury hotel in San Diego in 1896, where he finds his soul mate in the form of a celebrated actress of the previous century. Somewhere in Time won the World Fantasy Award for Best Novel, and the 1979 movie version, starring Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour, remains a cult classic whose fans continue to hold yearly conventions to this day.

Very engrossing story. The vivid descriptions of places, scenic views people and in particular, the various portraits Richard Collier has seen are such that they draw you into the story. Each description, each observation keeps you thumbing through the pages to get more information. I've seen the movie "Somewhere In Time". And from the very first time I saw this movie I fell hopelessly in love with the characters and story. I've watched this movie every time it has been shown on my cable channels, sadly I haven't seen it in the last few years. If I could find this movie on DVD I would most definitely purchase it!! I am so glad I ran across this book in my Google Books selections!!

The book is even more moving than the film. When I first read this book it was published under the original title BID TIME RETURN BY RICHARD MATHIESON. I LITTERALY COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN UNTIL I FINISHED IT. Then I waited a day and read it again. Then my BEST friend from high school and college took me to see the film. When we came out he eagerly awaited my reaction. I couldn t find the words I could not speak w/out crying uncontrollably in public. He was momentarily dissappointed thinking I didn t enjoy it. Then I told him how much I loved it and we both cried. When I looked around the theatre lobby for embarrassing and judgmental stares I saw only women AND men standing around crying as they tried to express how this story moved them. Years later I lost my best friend to an experimental drug to fight aids. I think of him almost everyday and I miss him more than time can heal.its been decades and I ve never found anyone who got me the way we undertood each other.

Loved the Movie, but could not figure out the Pocket Watch In the Movie, it is just there. GREAT Story, Great Possibilities. You can travel through time, Out of Body.
