Andrea Romance
After a drunken Las Vegas wedding, Autumn agrees to a 3-month marriage of convenience to Toby. Having recently inherited his role as an English viscount, he's hoping she can help him adjust to his new responsibilities. But when their fake relationship turns to something real, can Toby convince free-spirit Autumn to stay? This book is adorable and laugh-out-loud funny. Both Autumn and Toby dislike being tied down, so it's difficult for them to accept that the feelings they have for each other could be real. It was endearing to see Autumn interacting with the staff at the manor house, fitting herself into Toby's world through kindness and curiosity. I also liked how Toby respected Autumn's need for new experiences, instead of trying to tie her down. These two characters are unconventional but a perfect fit. Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.
Viper Spaulding
Sweet and sassy romance! Autumn and Toby are true opposites - she's an American free spirit, currently working at a casino in Vegas, while he's the newest viscount and inextricably tied to his family's estate. One last drunken fling in Vegas finds them suddenly married, the benefits of which eventually become apparent to Toby and he asks her to stay with him for a few months to be a buffer for him as he settles into his new responsibilities. I adored the slow build-up of their romance, how Autumn finds the stability she's never allowed herself to want before, and how Toby learns to appreciate his life through her eyes. Opposites-attract stories work best when both characters meet in the middle, and this one achieves that beautifully. I wish there hadn't been as much of a focus on the "is she a gold-digger or not" thread, and her return to her previous situation seemed unnecessarily out of character by that time. They seemed included only because they worked as formulaic plot devices, rather than character-driven events. But those were small matters, and they didn't detract from the overall impact of the romance or the satisfying HEA. If you like quick stories with very likable characters, you'll love this one. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
