Speakeasy: A Forbidden Romance

Speakeasy by the incredibly talented and outstanding author Sarina Bowen is the 5. book in her True North Series. Every book can easily be read as a standalone. I recommend to read the books in order. Ever since reading Bittersweet, the first book - I was in love with this series. I love every single one of them- they´re near and dear to my heart. But Speakeasy is my absoluty favorite read in 2018 - starting by the gorgeous cover and blown away with the characters and the story. Welcome back to Colebury, Vermont. May Shipley is a 27 year old lawyer, Griffin´s little sister and she needs cheering up after being cheated on. Her life is a mess. Her family is hovering and her job is a bit bla. All of her friends and family are happy, she´s the only single one and doesn´t fit right in anymore. Alec Rossi is a barowner who´s living his dream and at the same time he works hard to make ends meet. He´s one of Zara´s brothers and favorite uncle to his sweet nice. Alec holds a grudge on the Shipley´s, but something in May pulls him toward her. Both are good at two things, wild nights and familial dissapointment. I started reading and was immediatedly sucked into May and Alec´s story. I could very easily connect with them - that doesn´t happen very often. I wasn´t hooked, I was Hooked. When I read a book, I have one favorite character - Speakeasy , aka May and Alec didn't let me choose. They´re both near and dear to my heart and I can´t get them out of my head. There are only a couple of authors I can rely on to write stories that speak to me every single time. Sarina Bowen is one of them. I still remember reading The Ivy Years, and how I was blown away. I was sucked in and instantly a fan of the author’s writing. That was the beginning, I haven’t regretted it once. So, with everything said, Speakeasy was heart wrenching, raw and gritty - but at the same time romantic, enchanting, and just a story that needs to be read. It was everything a romance lover like myself is looking for. A MUST READ!!! I highly recommend Speakeasy and wish I could give more than 5 stars.
