The book is designed for mathematicians, engineers, scientists, and anyone else wanting to make use of spline functions for numerical computation.
Larry L. Schumaker is a Stevenson Professor of Mathematics at Vanderbilt University and has been on the faculties of the University of Texas at Austin and Texas A&M University. He was a Humboldt fellow at the Free University of Berlin and later spent a year at the Ludwig Maximillian University in Munich as a Humboldt prize winner. He is an AMS Fellow, a SIAM Fellow, and a member of the Norwegian Academy of Sciences. In addition to editing more than 40 conference proceedings, he is the author of Spline Functions: Computational Methods (SIAM, 2015) and Spline Functions: Basic Theory (CUP, 2007) and coauthor of Spline Functions on Triangulations (CUP, 2007).
