4.5 stars Ransom Wyatt is the president of the US, and someone wants him dead and gone. There have been several attempts on his life, and his brother, Mercy, is worried. As a result, Mercy sends in a highly-trained female Keeper named Dillon. At first, it’s just a job to her—keeping Ransom safe. Eventually they find they have much in common and start spending a lot more time together. They start caring about each other, and Dillon wants to tell him the truth, but her team dissuades her, in order to keep Ransom safe. This author sets up the conflicts beautifully and clearly. Readers can understand why Dillon is so conflicted as she spends more time with Ransom. And it’s obvious that a reckoning is on the horizon; Dillon just hopes to survive the fallout. It’s obvious that Ransom is gonna be upset when he discovers the truth as well. Nevertheless, the tension ratchets upward as the denouement gets closer. The pacing is pretty tight as well, and picks up even more-so at the end. The end is exciting and well-written, but there’s a lot happening, and the details are not always totally clear. This reader may re-read the final part of the book just to catch any details that were missed. This is an exciting addition to the Keepers Series, and is a wonderful and fun read. This is a president I could actually vote for. I just wish he was a real candidate—we need people like him in politics! And Dillon is tough and strong and capable. She’s an amazing protagonist as well.

I have read Stephanie St. Klaire from her very first book and this is by far the very best of all of them. I think all the tacos and bean dip she eats has done something to her brain and enabled her to write one of the most detailed, twisted, high action suspense series I have ever encountered. You probably guessed that I kind of liked it! In Fatal Diversion, Ransom Whyatt or Mr. President, seems to be under attack and nobody has been able to tell where the threats are coming from. He brings in The Keeper's to help him figure it all out. They are his family (some for real, some not) that runs a super unknown security group. Unknown to Ransom, the lobbyist he has been flirting with for about two weeks is a member of the group and has been planted by Ransom's brother to get close to him and provide a different layer of protection. Dillon is thrown into closer quarters with him when the bad stuff starts coming down and Ransome wants to "protect" her. Little does he know that she's a total bad ___ as far as weaponry and hand to hand combat goes and wearing the skirts and heels for her "part" is killing her! St. Klaire is a master at high tech plots involving wicked people who love to destroy and murder. In The Keeper's, she has created a group of highly talented, highly protective and highly rated in the romance department (usually against their will) people. She's a super talented writer with a devious little mind that likes to make her readers think they've figured it out, when actually they don't have a chance of even coming close. Most of us will never stop trying though! I was gifted a copy of this book via the author. All thoughts are my own.

Another great book in this amazing series. The Brother's Keeper's are always in thick of the action and you never see where the villain is coming from. These stories are full of suspense and keep you on your toes to the very end, add in a sweet and sometimes steamy romance and you have a book that is hard to put down. Dillion is a great character that we have come to love in earlier books and it was nice to find out more about Ransom, these two are so good together that I wouldn't be surprised to see them as a team in future books.

About the author

Stephanie St. Klaire is a Pacific Northwest native currently living in Portland, Oregon with her husband, five children, and two ferocious lap dogs that are used to the finer things in life like sleeping all day. When she isn’t writing, she can usually be found with a plate full of taco’s, a side of bean dip, and probably some gummy bears while being a little bit hippy and a lot bit busy mom’ing and wife’ing.

When she’s not tossing around gritty crime show inspired serial killers and diabolical bad guys, she likes to make people pee their pants a little with a good romcom. Sometimes, her worlds collide, and she writes really funny stuff right before she kills people off on the pages! She loves murder and mayhem as much as a good laugh and HEA! That’s why she’s a die-hard Hallmark junky but loves her gritty crime shows – balance!

Stephanie has always been a storyteller, with the gift of “gab”, and a life-long goal to be a writer. Unfortunate circumstances with her health, finally afforded her the time to do so. Irony at its best, she began writing her first novel at an adverse time, to escape her circumstance and explore the stories in her imagination for relief. She is happy to share those stories with her readers, and bring a little fun, entertainment, and of course smexy characters to the pages.
