I found the early chapters very repetitive; using different words to express the same feelings. As I progressed through the pages the author seemed to find a moving narrative that better expressed the young soldier's emotions. The battles as well as other characters were better defined and the young soldier's apprehensions of facing the physical and emotional challenges of war could be better understood. If the first half had been written as well as the last half I would have given it a higher rating. Even with it's flaws I believe it is a book worth reading.

I was forced to read this for school, so that does contribute to my hate of it. Other than me being forced to read it, it was a good book. I would not read it again.

This book depicts the adventures of young minds during an age of war tactics that needs to be remembered.
