About this ebook

In this spectacular father/son collaboration, Stephen King and Owen King tell the highest of high-stakes stories: what might happen if women disappeared from the world of men?

All around the world, something is happening to women when they fall asleep; they become shrouded in a cocoon-like gauze. If awakened, if the gauze wrapping their bodies is disturbed, the women become feral and spectacularly violent...

In the small town of Dooling, West Virginia, the virus is spreading through a women's prison, affecting all the inmates except one. Soon, word spreads about the mysterious Evie, who seems able to sleep - and wake. Is she a medical anomaly or a demon to be slain?

The abandoned men, left to their increasingly primal devices, are fighting each other, while Dooling's Sheriff, Lila Norcross, is just fighting to stay awake.

And the sleeping women are about to open their eyes to a new world altogether...

Plus several of S K's books seem to have a similar plot/plot component, eg The Stand. But it was interesting to see how he wrote this one with his son Owen. Plus the characterization was good: if there was a bit too much of certain "stupid violent rednecks" in it! The women all got better characterization than the men! Unsurprising: it was their book! I was a bit puzzled wondering how women who went into sleep state in THIS dimension could wake up in copies of their own physical bodies in anothersimilar 1

The novel engenders a wide cluster of topics covering sexism and feminism. Kept me hooked. I thoroughly enjoyed Stephen and Owen's writing. 👍

Once again, a small town, once again a multitude of its colorful residents—some more interesting, some less—once again paranormal events that trigger a host of earthly problems, requiring difficult decisions, followed by a heap of questions, only some of which get answered. P.S. If you liked what you read in Derry, you'll enjoy Dooling too.
