About this eBook

Stranger in a Strange Land, winner of the 1962 Hugo Award, is the story of Valentine Michael Smith, born during, and the only survivor of, the first manned mission to Mars. Michael is raised by Martians, and he arrives on Earth as a true innocent: he has never seen a woman and has no knowledge of Earth's cultures or religions. But he brings turmoil with him, as he is the legal heir to an enormous financial empire, not to mention de facto owner of the planet Mars. With the irascible popular author Jubal Harshaw to protect him, Michael explores human morality and the meanings of love. He founds his own church, preaching free love and disseminating the psychic talents taught him by the Martians. Ultimately, he confronts the fate reserved for all messiahs. --Brooks Peck.

Michael, the sole survivor of the first manned mission to Mars, returns to Earth as a true outsider. His innocence and lack of understanding of human society are juxtaposed with his immense power, both financial and spiritual. As the legal heir to a vast fortune and the de facto owner of Mars, Michael’s arrival brings upheaval and challenges to the world’s established norms.

For some reason there are two versions of this book for sale and the only difference I can tell is that this one has terrible formatting. I highly recommend buying the other version of this book.

I'm confused, I never had any issues with the formatting of this mind-blowing novel! So I have a difficult time understanding any ratings of 1 star. This is so far ahead of its time, it's mind boggling and is just as relevant today, if not even more relevant, as we seem to have such an incredible problem treating our fellow man with the humanity they deserve. RH, was spot on, and if you have ever encountered the word "Grok" and found yourself at a loss, this is the origins and you can fully learn to Grok, Grok! Sadly, Musk has chosen that as the name for his AI! I would have preferred if that severely unstable genius stayed the heck away from RH's intellectual property! But we all know Musk respects Musk and those who allow him free reign to destroy institutions upon making foolish acquisitions! He's destroyed what once was Twitter, I'm not saying he's not a genius, but many geniuses have to deal with many psychological issues, hubris clearly being Musk's biggest! Try hurting me Elon
