Personal academic background: In college, I graduated after five and a half years with a 2.0 grade point average. After several years out in the work force, I was interested in obtaining my MBA. I knew that my undergraduate GPA was not sufficient to get me into graduate school, so I started taking general courses and spent a great deal of time preparing for the GMAT. During this time I began to document decisions that yielded productive study sessions and the reasons behind these results.
Based on this personal experience and my interviews with hundreds of college students over the past 20 years, I have documented the five best practices that are central to consistently attending classes and completing study sessions. These best practices are detailed at http://
How did my academic story end? I went on to Graduate school, earned my degree with a 3.73 GPA, and was selected for membership in Beta Gamma Sigma, the honor society for collegiate schools of business.
