BOTTOM-LINE: Great plot twist, too long a story for what's there. . PLOT OR PREMISE: Two deaths get Kinsey off and running - the apparent mugging death of a low-rent private investigator known for cutting corners and a John Doe homeless guy who died with Kinsey's business address in his pocket. . WHAT I LIKED: Kinsey gets involved with the homeless friends of the dead guy, and Felix, Pearl and Dandy are great to read about. She finds out who he was, locates some personal effects, a safety deposit box and a will…and the will has a plot twist the size of Everest. It is flat-out AWESOME. And Kinsey picks up some cousins. . WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: The mystery takes a long time to get to the end, when the cause is obvious pretty fast. . W is for Wasted starts slower than previous but it works itself back into the Kinsey Millhone we all love. It was a great book and I will be sorry when I finish the alphabet!!!!

This is a unique blend of poverty and pharmaceutical drug research. Interesting and keeps you on your toes with the switching of character 1st person action. Great read anytime!

About the author
#1 New York Times bestselling author Sue Grafton first introduced Kinsey Millhone in the Alphabet Series in 1982. Soon after, both writer and heroine became icons and international bestsellers. Ms. Grafton was a writer who consistently broke the bonds of genre while never writing the same book twice. Named a Grand Master by the Mystery Writers of America, her awards and honors included the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Private Eye Writers of America, the Ross Macdonald Literary Award, the Cartier Diamond Dagger Award from Britain's Crime Writers' Association, the Lifetime Achievement Award from Malice Domestic, a Lifetime Achievement Award from Bouchercon, three Shamus Awards, and three Anthony Awards—including the first two ever awarded. She passed away in December 2017.
