It is completely different from the devotional approach to the Bible that is taught in church. #4 The historical-critical method is difficult to accept for many seminarians, who come in with the expectation of learning the pious truths of the Bible so that they can pass them along in their sermons. Instead, they learn that the Bible is filled with discrepancies, many of which are irreconcilable contradictions.
