If all went as planned, I would be in Ottawa in 36 hours. #3 I was late to the airport, and when I arrived in Seattle, I broke down crying in the check-in line. I was trying to make the most dreaded moment real. I was flying towards it at 500 miles an hour. #4 My mother had a stroke in her brain stem, which controlled many of her vital life-giving functions, and there was no possibility of repair or recovery. She would never wake up, and she would never breathe on her own again.
