About this ebook

Two hard-headed, passionate people . . . Two stubborn opponents with tender souls . . . Sometimes wars of the heart can only be won through the sweetest of surrenders.

The War Between the States may be over for the rest of the country, but not for Kit Weston. Disguised as a boy, she's come to New York City to kill Baron Cain, the man who stands between her and Risen Glory, the South Carolina home she loves. But unknown to Kit, the Yankee war hero is more than her bitterest enemy—he's also her guardian. And he'll be a lot harder to kill than she's figured on . . .

Believing that Kit's a boy, Cain offers the grubby rapscallion a job in his stable. But he has no idea what he's in for, and it's not long before the hero of Missionary Ridge discovers the truth. His scamp of a stable boy is a strong-willed, violet-eyed beauty who's hell-bent on driving him crazy.

I loved this book. I read it a few years back and it was a fantastic read.' There was passion, lust , drama, a tad bit of adventure. The main character was out of this world . She stood for the independent, feminist, and equalist we females strive to be. She was a complete bada** !!! Then there was Baron Cain.. don't let me get started on him. He was boarish and full on barbaric. But at the same time all I thought was God***. If anyone is into the kink, specifically the DS in BDSM he's the character for you!!! If any of you are orphans then you can relate with the main character Kit Weston, on her feelings of abandonment and feeling lost and alone. The book was overall FANTASTICALLY AMAZING !!!!

It's fine. Historical at its finest. I've had different feelings with each day I'm reading it. But queries, that didn't change my mind in other ways are: (1) The age gap, (2) White and Black, (3) Forced ***, (4) Men being the superior ones, (5) Rushed ending, I guess. All in all, I still rated it 5 for it was written in year 1980, a very long time ago haha. Sorry for my limited words, I'm not a native english speaker. But I hope, I've been informative enough.

Light-hearted, but not unintelligent. I also liked that it didn't try to demonize (too much) either sides of the civil war. A good read and worth every penny.
