About this ebook

When everyone reads minds, a secret is a dangerous thing to keep. Sixteen-year-old Kira Moore is a zero, someone who can't read thoughts or be read by others. Zeros are outcasts who can't be trusted, leaving her no chance with Raf, a regular mindreader and the best friend she secretly loves. When she accidentally controls Raf's mind and nearly kills him, Kira tries to hide her frightening new ability from her family and an increasingly suspicious Raf. But lies tangle around her, and she's dragged deep into a hidden underworld of mindjackers, where having to mind control everyone she loves is just the beginning of the deadly choices before her.

It seemed a bit slow in the beginning and I had a hard time following Kira's logic in some of her decisions. The author stated the reasons a few times but it was still difficult for me to read. Then I got to a place where the book started to draw me in and almost on one page everything changed and it had me. Overall it's a great read. I'm glad I hung in there. The only problem now is that I HAVE TO read the next book in the series.

I really like Open Minds (Mindjack: Kira Book One) because the author writes in a way that drew me in from the very beginning and continued until the end of the last chapter. I appreciate that she's not one of those overly-wordy writers, but she definitely knows how to help you imagine her characters and settings. She seems to choose her words carefully. I also found the book's topic to be both really intriguing and extremely heartbreaking; in fact, the farther into the book I got, the more I was reminded of the cliques and outcasts of my high school days. I plan to read more of her books.

Fabulous! Great story about a girl who just wants to fit in. The only problem with that is she can't read minds. And just when things are looking up, everything goes sideways. I highly recommended!
