Bio-butanol has gained wide recognition globally as an advanced biofuel, which can be used directly as a substitute for gasoline in internal combustion engines. This book provides readers with an in-depth knowledge of the various aspects and steps involved in butanol production. Further, the current global status, history, various technologies adopted for butanol production from different feedstocks, and the role of microorganisms in the production process are also covered. The book has 12 chapters, with each chapter dedicated to covering various aspects of butanol, from production to applications.

Dr. Anita Singh is working as an Assistant Professor at Department of Environmental Sciences, Central University of Jammu (J&K). She is having more than 9 years of teaching and research experience. Dr. Singh did her Ph.D. in bioethanol production from lignocellulosic biomass from GJUST, Hisar, Haryana, India. She did her post-doctoral research at the University of Georgia, USA, on the selective removal of inhibitors from lignocellulosic biomass under the UGC Raman Post-doctoral fellowship program. Dr. Singh has published 50 research papers in international and national journals as well as book chapters in edited books. Dr. Singh completed two sponsored research projects from UGC and DST-SERB.

Dr. Richa Kothari is working as an Associate Professor at the Department of Environmental Sciences, Central University of Jammu (J&K), India. She was a WARI Fellow (IUSSTF) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Lincoln, USA. She was selected in the list of World’s top 2% scientists by Stanford’s University, USA for significant research work, 2020 and 2021. She has been actively involved in research in the areas of clean and green energy production and wastewater treatment. She has published more than 100 research papers/book chapters in SCI/Scopus journals. She has delivered lectures at national and international levels.

Dr. Somvir Bajar is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, Haryana (India). His work is focused on the exploration of energy recovery possibilities from waste sectors and sustainable solutions for the abatement of environmental pollutants. He has more than 10 years of teaching and research experience and has published 35 research papers in peer-reviewed journals of international repute and edited books. He has been also involved in providing environmental consultancy to more than 600 industries and played a considerable role in the development and implementation of a self-sustaining business model with consultancy activities in his career.

Dr. Vineet Veer Tyagi is currently working as Head at the School of Energy Management, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra, Jammu (J&K), India. He was Post Doctoral Research Fellow at UMPEDAC, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He was the recipient of prestigious research fellowships from MNRE and CSIR at IIT-Delhi, New Delhi, India. He has published more than 150 publications in reputed international peer-reviewed (SCI/Scopus) journals with more than 15000 citations. He was selected in the list of the World’s top 2% scientists by Stanford University, USA for significant academic and research work in 2020 and 2021. His work is focused on renewable energy technologies and energy storage.
