Sustainability is extremely important in dryland farming under global climatic change. Technology devised by various agricultural institutions is provided in this book.Variation in environmental factors may influence entire ecological system which may not be ideal for agriculture. Under such global scenario , plant growth is under geopardy. New varieties have to be developed to suit the varied climate or crop strategy in view of crop domain suiting ideal available temperature has to be framed to make dryland farming sustainable .Various agrotechnology needs to be adapted to avoid depletion in productivity.  

Global climatic change in future may limit the productivity of available varieties. Corporate farming may come to rescue the problem under present scenario. Various agrotechnologies described in this book may help the farmers and planners to overcome the situation in future. Critical problems have been dealt with probable solutions to suit the requirements .Multicropping system , organic farming, , watersheds promotion, reclamation of degraded soils, soil health cards, use of portrals of weather forecast, early harvest on physiological maturity and use of instant remedies timely under unfavourable season shall ease the failure of crop . Long outstanding demand has thus fulfilled with this book.

Dr. Arvind M. Dhopte retired on august 31st, 1999 as Head of Botany Section after serving in Dr.Panjab rao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth , Akola. Born on August 16, 1941 in Warora, Chandrapur district of Maharashtra he is graduated (B.Sc. (Agri.) from Nagpur University in 1963, and completed his post graduation (M.Sc. Agri.) from University of Pune in 1965 in Agri. Botany (Plant Physiology). During 1971 he received a Certificate from IARI, New Delhi from Division of Plant physiology. He was selected for Doctoral Training in US by ICAR under World Bank fellowship. He obtained Ph.D. in Crop Physiology in 1984 from University of Nebraska, Lincoln, USA under able guidance of Dr. J.D. Eastin. He is honoured with another Ph.D. degree on his Cotton research by Dr. PDKV, Akola during 1985. Starting as Lecturer in Botany at Govt. Agri. College, Parbhani (1965) and Asst. Prof. (1970), he got promoted and worked as Associate Prof (1978-1997) of Plant Physiology. He founded ‘Forum for Plant Physiologist’ in 1987 from central India and launched six monthly journal‘Annals of Plant Physiology’ since 1987 and worked as Chief Editor for more than 10 years. 

He retired as Professor of Botany (1997-1999) after super annuation completing 34 years of service. He guided 25 PG students, published 110 research articles in national and international journals of repute. He has his credit two review articles, seven articles in books, 15 popular articles and he attended about 35 seminars/symposia. He participated in Indian Science Congress for 15 years and presented his research.

He attended International symposia in Plant Physiology during 1988 and presented his research on Sorghum and Cotton. He has authored five books in Plant Physiology. His specialisation was stress physiology, production physiology, and plant nutrition. Lately he is honoured with “JeevanGauravPuraskar” by Pensioners Association of the University.
