About this ebook

The first book in Suzanne Young’s New York Times bestselling series is a “gripping tale for lovers of dystopian romance” (Kirkus Reviews) about two teens in a world where true feelings are forbidden, teen suicide is an epidemic, and the only solution is The Program—now with a freshly reimagined look.

Sloane knows better than to cry in front of anyone. With suicide now an international epidemic, one outburst could land her in The Program, the only proven course of treatment. Sloane’s parents have already lost one child; Sloane knows they’ll do anything to keep her alive. She also knows that everyone who’s been through The Program returns as a blank slate. Because their depression is gone—but so are their memories.

Under constant surveillance at home and at school, Sloane puts on a brave face and keeps her feelings buried as deep as she can. The only person Sloane can be herself with is James. He’s promised to keep them both safe and out of treatment, and Sloane knows their love is strong enough to withstand anything. But despite the promises they made to each other, it’s getting harder to hide the truth. They are both growing weaker. Depression is setting in.

And The Program is coming for them.

I haven't actually read this book but while searching for one in the store this one caught my eye. It wasn't just the cover, but the short info; it was concise and beautifully written. I thought if just these two things are perfect then the book must be amazing. Can't wait to read it. I have high expectations. Just read it because before this I've never even heard of her( the author) but I trust Simon and Schuster (obviously they published Cassandra Clare who is flawless <3) .

This book is depressing, raw, and oh so very real. At the same time though, it always leaves you with hope. Throughout the book you become emotionally connected with the characters. I can't tell you how much I loved this book even though at times it frustrated me to no end! Can't wait to read book 2! I highly recommend reading this

I didn't know that this was the prequel so at first I was really confused as to how this fit in with the first 2 books. Another # quarters of the way through, you're finally figuring it out. It's slow going until then and you're still guessing as to if this book should even be considered part of the series. Obviously it's not the end of the series. It should have begun as a new series spun off from The Program and The Treatment.
