The Hollow Places: A Novel

I read this, and The Twisted Ones, one right after the other. I can't remember which was first, but it was so delicious, I had to have more! Both books were very different from what I normally read, which is typically darker, grittier horror. But both had hooked instantly. not easy to categorize by genre, a mix of a teeny-tiny bit of horror, a cup of sci-fi fantasy, a healthy dose of folkloric influence, and a dollop of psychological thriller. all wrapped up in an air of magic, mystery, and tempering despair. Absolutely one (or two!) to consider if you're tastes fall towards darker, modern day, supernatural horror, but are open to exploring some of the genres that reach in, out, and around horror.

This book was a new author splurge. And I'm glad I got it. At first I wasn't sure if horror even played a part, but I loved the way it crept up on you. I also enjoy the fact that it left me with questions about that hollow place, letting my own imagination run rampant with who what when where's. Unfortunately, it's added more titles to my must read list lol thank you

A very witty, wild, and wonderfully horrifying read. The conversations between characters is hilarious and human, it makes them more than relatable. While this isn't the typical horror read it is undeniably creepy and unnerving in a way that claws under your skin and worms it's way into your brain. I don't think I will ever look at a willow the same way.
