About the author
Tahar Ben Jelloun, geboren 1944 in Fès (Marokko), lebt in Paris. Er gilt als bedeutendster Vertreter der französischsprachigen Literatur des Maghreb. 1987 wurde er mit dem Prix Goncourt ausgezeichnet, 2004 mit dem renommierten International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award. Im Jahr 2011 wurde ihm der Erich-Maria-Remarque-Friedenspreis verliehen. Seine Sachbücher "Papa, was ist ein Fremder?" (2000), "Papa, was ist der Islam?" (2001, Neuauflage 2013) und "Arabischer Frühling" (2011) waren Bestseller. Mit Cabu und Wolinski, die bei dem Attentat auf Charlie Hebdo ermordet wurden, verlor Ben Jelloun zwei Freunde.
