Assassin’s Creed has been EVERYWHERE these last few months. Even if you’re not a gamer, you probably would have heard SOMETHING about this series. Having only heard great things about the series in general, when I got the opportunity to read and review the manga for Assassins Creed Awakening, I JUMPED. I finished this book in less than a day and while I didn’t know what to expect going in, Assassin’s Creed Awakening Volume I took me completely by surprise. I absolutely loved how we saw the past and the future, the action, the pace and, most of all, the actual story. MY THOUGHTS: 1. I LOVED HOW UNIQUE THE READING EXPERIENCE WAS FOR THIS MANGA. For starters, it was presented from right to left. Flipping pages the opposite way and reading from top right to bottom left was a fun experience. I also loved that this was a manga. I haven’t read a lot of comics/ manga and I thoroughly enjoyed the format and the story. 2. Which brings me to HOW MUCH I ENJOYED THE PLOT! I didn’t know what to expect going in, except, as the title states, ASSASSINS but this manga was so well thought out! It kept me on the edge of my seat and I loved it. 3. I loved the storyline in Edward Kenway’s timeline especially. He was a fearless, motivated pirate and reading his story (and his conquests) was a lot of fun. 4. I loved the Edward – Masato connection and how everything was revealed. I especially love that it ended on a cliff-hanger and this manga made me want to pick up the next volume INSTANTLY. Would I recommend this book? HECK YES! It was a boatload of fun, gorgeously illustrated and a quick, well-plotted read. Pick up this series NOW
