Bower's writing career began in earnest in the early 20th century, with her first novel, 'Chip, of the Flying U,' published in 1906, which led to a series that prominently featured the 'Flying U' ranch and its colorful inhabitants. Her narrative style is characterized by its vivid depiction of ranch life, the nuanced portrayal of the American frontier, and a keen observation of human relationships set against the backdrop of the West.
