About this ebook

We have to burn to rise from the ashes.

Nearly two years after her divorce, Felicity Hawthorne is ready to date again. At least, she thinks she would be, if the idea of dating wasn’t so freaking terrifying. But then she wins a date with sexy, swoony firefighter Noah Prescott at a charity bachelor auction, and everything changes.

FDNY captain Noah isn’t looking for a relationship. Since losing his father as a teenager, he’s spent the past twenty years shouldering heavy responsibilities, and he knows he doesn’t have the time or energy to be anyone’s boyfriend. But one date with sweet, charming Felicity has him wanting things he shouldn’t want.

Which is why Noah suggests Felicity practice her budding dating skills with him. He wants more of her, and practice dates are as close as he can come to having her in his life without hurting her. But then dating practice turns into practice of another kind—the kind that involves moans and sighs and orgasms—and Noah knows he’s going to fall. Hard.

BURNING UP is the sixth instalment in Tara Wyatt’s contemporary, adult THE PRESCOTTS erotic, first responder, romances series. This is thirty-two year old, high school English teacher Felicity Hawthorne, and thirty-five year old firefighter Captain Noah Prescott’s story line. BURNING UP can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Tod from dual third person perspectives (Noah and Felicity) BURNING UP follows the building romance and relationship between thirty-two year old, high school English teacher Felicity Hawthorne, and thirty-five year old firefighter Noah Prescott. Trapped in a school elevator, Felicity would be rescued by FDNY Captain Noah Prescott. A few days later, Felicity would come face to face with her hero at the local charity auction, where she and her friends would buy a date with Noah Prescott. One thing leads to another, and Felicity and Noah agree to another date, a practice date for both in the face of months without an actual relationship, a practice date that quickly turns into something more. Noah’s schedule is often filled days and weeks at a time, and finding time for the woman with whom he will fall in love is a struggle, a struggle that will threaten the future between our story line couple. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Noah and Felicity, and the potential fall-out as Noah battles years of guilt, guilt that will be compounded when Noah blames himself for an accident that hurt someone else. Noah Prescott continues to battle his demons since the death of his father over twenty years earlier. Always placing his family and friends before anything else, Noah struggles to find time for Felicity Hawthorne, a struggle that continues with his day to day life. Felicity Hawthorne has loved and lost having witnessed the demise of her marriage in the face of her ex-husband’s betrayal and affair. Thinking she has found a potential future with Noah Prescott, Felicity is blindsided when Noah pushes her out of his life, to focus on family and friendships, instead. The relationship between Noah and Felicity is one of instant attraction but neither one expected to ever act on their first encounter. Noah struggles to find the time in his relationship with Felicity, and their relationship will suffer when when Noah’s ongoing guilt continues to pull him under. The $ex scenes are intimate erotic and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic and familiar secondary and suppotting characters including fellow first responders, Noah’s brother Hudson, and Felicity’s friends who are all about supporting their bestie when her life spirals out of control. BURNING UP is a story of family, friendships, relationships and love; of sacrifice and guilt, acceptance and understanding. The character driven premise is enticing and exciting; the romance is seductive and steamy; the characters are fun and flirty.

Burning Up is the 6th book in The Prescotts series and the second telling the love story of one of the original Prescott's cousins. I absolutely loved the first four books in this series and powered through them in one weekend! These latest additions to the series do not disappoint! I loved reading Noah and Felicity's story and getting to visit with the rest of the Prescotts, who of course feature throughout Noah's story! Noah and Felicity's relationship is intense and so satisfying. Tara Wyatt's writing and stories have a way of pulling you in and leave you wanting more - I devoured this in one sitting! I will be reading 'Skin Deep', Hudson's story and the next in the series, as soon as it available. Happy reading everyone.

Touching read and I love the parallel that a group of female friends meeting and discussing books, food, and their lives versus romance novels. I found the story of sexy hot firefighter Noah and English teacher slash drama teacher Felicity’s story sweet and tender. Definite worth reading. The author had some pronoun confusions that can be remedied with proofread or update fix.
